NON-GMO

HZPC is ahead of innovation. But we have the highest regard for customer demands. Therefore we don't commercialize varieties that have to be regulated as a GMO in a certain market or country.

Our stand

Regarding the regulatory status on novel breeding methods we support the vision of Plantum.

Novel breeding methods are not commercially viable under the present European legislation, while there are opportunities in other parts of the world. In order to continue to ensure global food supplies over the long-term, we believe it is important that all breeding techniques have to be assessed on their merits. Everyone can agree that science contributes to improve present standards in the development of medication, devices and food.

Our Non-GMO declaration

HZPC Holding B.V. declares that all potato varieties bred by HZPC have been created using traditional breeding methods without the use of genetic modification techniques that lead to genetically modified organisms, in a certain country. For the EU this is  defined in Directive 2001/18/EC* on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms.

This statement applies to all HZPC’s varieties, which have been or will be marketed.

* Directive 2001/18/EC: “Genetically modified organism (GMO)”: means an organism, with exception human beings, in which the genetic material has been changed in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or natural recombination.
